The course
How does the training work?
The interviewing process will be in two stages:
Stage 1:
Candidate will be invited for interview:

  • The applicant will be interviewed by two members of the MSC Strategic Management Group
  • Numeracy and literacy test is taken
  • Presentation/activity is given to a group of students
From this process a short list will be drawn up for a provisional place with the MSC. If selected, a second, subject specific interview will be carried out in one of the partnership schools

Stage 2:
  • A successful applicant will be interviewed in their prospective home school by a departmental representative and a member of the Senior Leadership Team, a pupil activity will also take place
NB - Successful candidates will need to be available for a 1 week induction in the summer term.
Interview activity
Interview 1

As a trainee teacher, you will be expected to deliver aspects of the Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE/Citizenship programme) to pupils. As part of the selection process you will be expected to present a 15 minute activity on one of the following subjects:

  • The environment
  • Bullying
  • Healthy eating in schools
  • Choosing a career
  • The role of sport in schools
You need to choose whichever subject interests you most and prepare a discussion or an activity for a small group of year 8 or 9 pupils.
Due to pressure of number and space, this activity will not be in a classroom and there will not be ICT resources available!
